The latest Psychoanalysis, Vol 19(1), was thirtieth edition. It has been 19 years since we have published the first edition on 1990. We used to publish Psychoanalysis only once a year；however, from 1997, we started publishing it twice a year. Since 1998, it came to have more organized characters of a scientific journal and since 2000, its size also became what it is now. In the early years, international authors-Keigo Okonogi, the Sandlers, Mathew Suh, Leon Wurmser, Myunghee Kim, Raymond Gel, Alexander Moser- also participated. Most people agree that professor Byung-Wook Lee deserves the title of the most enthusiastic scholar for the journal. We hope that someone in the younger generation will achieve his level of efficiency and love for Psychoanalysis. Like other psychoanalysis journals, it is hard for Psychoanalysis to define the original articles compared to biomedical journals, because of its nature. It is one of the main reasons that tackles Psychoanalysis from joining the Korean Research Foundation or SCI(E) journal. But now, there are five Korean members of International Psychoanalytic Association；a few young candidates are being trained in the States with individual analysis；many Korean psychiatrists are interested in psychoanalytic psychotherapy. This will be the foundation of the development of the journal “Psychoanalysis”.
